Redwoods is committed to
providing a range of sensitive and flexible services for people with learning disabilities,
including residential, day services and residential short breaks in the
Lothians. Those for whom Redwoods care
are encouraged and assisted to reach their maximum potential in terms of their
spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing.
BACKGROUND
The Redwoods Caring
Foundation (Redwoods), an Edinburgh-based charity, was established in 1986 by a
local church in an attempt to reach out to meet the needs of a specific group
of vulnerable people within the community.
It provides a range of services
for people with learning disabilities which currently include a number of
residential units, supported flats, a day centre and short breaks centre.
Redwoods is registered by
the Care Commission and receives the majority of its revenue funding from local
government. Recognising the value of
those for whom we care, Redwoods works with other recognised statutory and
voluntary organisations within
Redwoods staff seek to
comply with the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice for Employers
and Employees.
